This ceramic dolls head is displayed on a natural wooden plinth/pedestal.
He has imperfections to him- but then none of us are perfect-this is one of the many reasons I love ceramics.
This little boy is very quirky in style.
I began my journey with ceramics, only to find an obsession with numerous techniques including hand building, mold making and slip casting, glazing and kiln firing.
A journey that is often fraught with disaster and disappointment. But when the kiln gods are kind- ceramics are a beautiful thing.
I have cast him in earthenware clay, he has been biscuit fired to 1000 degrees. Under glazed and then glazed in a vintage crackle glaze, then fired again. a total of around 24 hours in the kiln.
