In December 2023, I have participated in a Dickens festival where I painted this portrait of life for the public.
This portrait inspired me because it is a child who participated in 2020 at a same Dickens festival in the Netherlands and was dressed as a Victorian child.
Although it is hard to think about the time that poor children had to work hard at a young age, it also gives the feeling of cosiness, togetherness, because these children bonded in large groups, and helped each other to stay alive.
I love to paint with oils, and therefore I have used this medium to paint this portrait in a classical fine art style.
