Original artwork description:

"The mist that came from the Mediterranean sea blotted out the city that Pilate so detested. Suspension bridges connecting the temple with the grim fortress of Antonia vanished, the murk descended from the sky and drowned the winged gods above the hippodrome, the crenellated Hasmonean palace, the bazars, the caravanserai, the alleyways, the pools..."
from Master and Margarita by Bulgakov

Genya based this triptych on the story of Pontius Pilate and Christ.
The central painting is the scened where Pilate enters the galleria where he will meet Christ and judge him.
The left painting depicts him already making the decision of releasing Barabbas instead of Christ.
Pilate is looking unto the dramatic Jerusalem sunset with his dog by his side.
