This is one of my favorite locations to paint in the "badlands" of northern New Mexico. As I began this piece, I blocked in my shapes with intense, bold colors. My intention had been to tone these down as I developed the composition, but as the painting progressed I decided to hold on to the intensity.
"Late Summer in Nambe" is painted on a museum wrapped canvas 24" square x 1.5" deep. It is wired and ready to hang; it may be framed but is not necessary.
