Original artwork description:

This is a painting buuilt up with many layers of acrylic paint added on top of one another. Symbols and shapes are created through the use of masking tape, masking areas to receive colour paint. The layers are inspired by various scenes and experiences from travelling through the local landscape in somerset.

The layers are built up over time, from a few days to a few weeks, allowing the image to evolve over time, before gradually rubbing back through the use of sanding blocks to reveal previous layers, each layer interacting with the previous and latest, creating an image that explore entropy and the wear and tear or weathering seen in the landscape on rocks, buildings, landmarks etc.

Materials used:

Acrylic paint on mixed media paper.
