Hope is the title I chose for this painting that wants to photograph a moment of the extreme journey of a group of migrants trying to cross the Mediterranean. The inspiration for the painting came to me while I was observing a painting by Ajvazovskij in Moscow. Without wishing to deal with the topic of immigration from a political point of view, I think it is up to each of us to question ourselves about the tragedy of millions of people who cross the Mediterranean in extremely dangerous conditions in the name of a better future. Without rhetoric I believe that before any evaluation or personal consideration, for a moment we should try to put ourselves in the shoes of those who climb on those boats, leaving everything and everyone in the name of Hope.
