Contre Jour is a painting term that literally translates as against the light. My painting was created looking at a scene facing into the full glare of the sun. Taking this view colours take on a totally different value and glow with a radiance that is unpredictable. I often stop at this particular field to see how the light is affecting the scene, no day is the same. The south facing field slopes upwards and if I am early enough the winter sun will be very low on the horizon, and the light is sometimes blue or orange.
Contre Jour Facing the Light has the title recorded on the edges Left Contre Jour, Right Facing the Light. Signed on the right edge, signed titled and dated on the reverse.
Presented ready to hang Shipped carefully packed in mostly recycled materials, with an artist’s certificate, dispatched with a track and trace identity.
