Original artwork description:

This drawing is a creative experiment aimed at merging two stylistic aspects that belong to my artistic expression: realistic pencil portraiture and abstract color doodling.

The colored doodle, reminiscent of floral motifs, emerges from the lower corners of the drawing and floats towards the figure, activating a process of contamination of the black and white portrait. The figure embraces this fusion and surrenders to an ecstatic state. The scene, now infused, takes on a magical-surreal touch.
A flow of energetic waves traverses the composition, evoking my central theme: the power of inner energy, spiritual contemplation.

Another aspect characterizing this work is the thickness of the support and the decoration of the edges. The doodling extends beyond the boundaries of the drawing, embracing the edges as well. This gives the work a sense of three-dimensionality, imbuing it with depth and material perception. The edges, in addition to carrying extensions of the drawing, are finely worked with gold leaf. This gilding reflects ambient light, creating a subtle golden shimmer on the wall that hosts the work, and a distinctive light-shadow effect around the artwork itself.
The interaction between three-dimensionality, golden reflections, and play of light and shadow contributes to amplifying the perception of the drawing in the environment, creating a multifaceted, somewhat interactive visual experience, stimulating the viewer to contemplate the work from different angles.

This drawing is executed on a 40x40 cm wooden surface, mounted on a high-quality pine wood frame with a thickness of 38 mm. The tools used include Faber Castell graphite pencils, Prismacolor Premier Colored Pencils, gold leaf, silver leaf, and Uni Posca colored markers.
The drawing is finished with a semi-gloss fixative spray.

Materials used:

graphite pencils, colored pencils, markers, gold leaf, silver leaf
