Artwork description:

An original handmade and signed linocut print showing the Church in the Wood in Hastings, East Sussex.

This is a reduction linocut in a very small edition of 10.

Printed with water based inks on acid-free paper.

The image is just under A4 in size and is signed and editioned in pencil at the bottom by me, the artist.

The print will be sent with a mount and backing board, in a cellophane bag and securely packaged with cardboard. It will fit a standard sized frame (mount is 30 by 40cm or 12 by 16 inches).

The Church in the Wood is a small 13th century church that used to serve the village of Hollington outside Hastings in East Sussex. Hollington has since become a suburb of Hastings, with a large council estate built there post-war.

Since my childhood, the old wood around the church has been bitten into for housing, a major road, and even a giant Tescos.

However, enough of the woodland remains to give the old church its peaceful setting, with a large graveyard disappearing into the trees, and many birds and wild flowers.

Materials used:

water-based inks, lino block, paper
