Years ago I made a piece titled Wandering Line. A series of rectangles stacked one on top of another and each one positioned off center… thereby, creating a curve. I lived with that piece for a while. I never warmed to Wandering Line. I wanted to change it in some way or throw it out. I decided to cut an oval out of each stacked rectangle. Then I rounded the corners and Wayward Chain came alive. The difference was startling. A weak piece suddenly became one of my favorites. Wayward Chain comes with a removable base. The bottom 18” of the sculpture easily slides into the slotted base.
