The painting is born as a reinterpretation of an etching from the cycle ‘I capricci’ by Francisco Goya. The Capricci etchings have an ironic tone that the autor uses to talk about the vices and alleged virtues of the late XVIII-century society of his time. The original etching depicts two women intent on talking to each other: do they confide? gossip? Does the elder warn the younger of the dangers of good society? I tried to translate this image to the present day, maintaining that ironic style that struck me so much in the overall vision of the Capricci.
