Original artwork description:

It's a cold Autumnal day with a reluctant setting sunshine. Frontal clouds float and linger around the sun making a weird somber light. Must work fast to beat the cold and onset of dusk. This part of the common is predominantly deep green and viridian with tiny specs of Gorse yellow and a complimentary purple flower attempting to lift the effect. My scene is heavy with Corsican Pine making strange characteristic silhouettes; taller straiter pines mark the forest on my right. The landscape is, I imagine, primeval and sparse but not basic. Underfoot peat and moss fight for dominance – ponies gallop through footpaths between the trees. Too cold to paint any more.

Materials used:

watercolour and gouache
