Original artwork description:
In 2021 we had a drier and calmer autumn, which left the foliage on the trees for longer, and allowed deep russets and yellows, bright reds and oranges, pale pinks and appricote colours.
Dry autumn weather is less common and allows the colours to deepen and mature into a stunning display. This was painted at the start point of one of my favourate walks and from an area that I have painted many times before.
Every year there are differences and it give up a new spectrum of autumn. Its quite a larger piece for me and took a while to paint, but I really wanted to get into the textures and the subtle colour changes in the dappled light.
Its one of my favourite times of year, and I rush out to find the best spots, the best displays. Luckily the woods in the area where I live never disappoint.
