Original artwork description:

The title of this work, "On the Shores of Time," is derived from a song by the Dutch musician Spinvis*. It beautifully reflects how time and our lives slip away from us, sometimes seeming to flow past us like water. For me, it captures the essence of melancholy.

This abstract work is like a narration of memories of a feeling, such a memory that fades over time but suddenly resurfaces through a scent or sound. And you remember exactly how it felt...
The work almost created itself. I chose the shapes and colors intuitively. The shapes seem to point to a place under the blossom, to reflection and leaves. I associate it with a vaguely happy and simultaneously sad feeling, of being abandoned, and of love, a memory in moonlight at a secret place...

The color palette is very different from what I am used to. The purple just radiates! The mood of the work changes with the light that falls on it.
It is made with oil paint over an underpainting of acrylic on canvas. Various materials were used: in addition to brushes, also palette knives and scrapers.

For customers from countries bordering the Netherlands: The work is varnished for protection and an iron wire is attached to the back to make it ready to hang.
For costumers far away from the Netherlands: The painting will be shipped rolled up with the corresponding stretcher bars. Thus, upon arrival, the work will have to be re-stretched. This saves you a lot of shipping costs and is more environmentally friendly (less CO2). Unless you wish otherwise, of course. Please send me a message via this platform and we will make new arrangements. (click the button: contact me)
