Following the coronation of King Charles, celebrations of local communities were held in many UK parks. In particular, there children decorated their own "golden" crowns with rhinestones. I was prompted to paint this work by the desire to convey the spontaneity of a child’s portrait blended with the comedy of wearing a paper crown.
