Original artwork description:

This painting is of an abalone shell resting on a blue bottle. I was captivated by the natural pearlescence within the abalone shells. It was a challenge to represent in paint the brilliance of light and colour within the shell. This is achieved through the application of juxtaposing colours, which vibrate to the eye. Two reclaimed bottles are placed at the back of the composition, as their translucent qualities complement the richness of the shells.

Materials used:

Oil on Belgian Linen
